Performance Management using 3Ps® as an effective resource
Why would you want to use the 3Ps®?
The 3Ps® development tool is unique and different because:
- it is simple to use
- it is based on self-interpretation and
- it focuses on development & actions
The 3Ps® is simple for every individual to understand because individuals can readily see how even a small change in behaviour can make a difference. It highlights areas in performance and communication that will result in effective individual development. This is much simpler and more direct than other more complicated and indirect tools particularly some profiling tools.
The 3Ps® is a self-interpretation tool. Instead of teaching or telling someone about themselves and the way they behave the 3Ps® allows individuals to understand for themselves how they approach a situation. Subsequently individuals learn more quickly how to change their approach to produce a different result.
The 3Ps® action plan is created with the individual. It is real-time because it’s based on the individual’s weekly diary. Areas of improvement are immediate, realistic and directly applicable to a working environment where time pressures and large workloads are often already a daily concern.
How is it different to profiling tools?
The 3Ps® is not described as a profiling tool because it has been designed to avoid ‘labelling’, ‘boxing-in’ or ‘pigeon-holing’ people which can happen with profiling tools. Sometimes individuals use a ‘label’ as an excuse for poor performance in certain areas.
The 3Ps® is also designed to avoid alienating individuals. This can happen when individuals don’t feel comfortable or disagree with a profile or ‘label’ that has been created for them.
The 3Ps® achieves significant individual development because it is unique to each individual.
